The Lammermuir Larder, based in Haddington is a new food initiative run by volunteer members of the community, for people who find themselves in need of emergency food and support.  The Lammermuir Larder is available to anyone who may be in crisis or finds they have financial restrictions.  This new food initiative for the Haddington and Lammermuir area, launches at the beginning of February.

This service operates by a referral process, either from a professional who is familiar with the individual or family, or from the individual/ family themselves.  At all times referrals are kept strictly confidential.  Once the referral has been received, a “larder list” will be sent out detailing products that are available.  Once the completed list has been returned, the larder box or bags will be delivered to the person in needs door.  Referral forms can be obtained online from the Haddington and District Community Council website, by private messaging us on face book or by emailing team@lammermuirlarder.co.uk.  Further information can also be obtained by ringing 07483 911391.

General donations can be made in the Co-op in Haddington, Rosehall Stores and in Kevin Watts the butcher.  Each week we will let you know what products we are in need of, this week we need tinned meats, tea and coffee and breakfast cereals.  Animal Magic and J S Mains will also accept donations.

A spokesperson for the Lammermuir Larders said, “this has come together quickly to react to a demand for this service. We could not do this without the support of the local traders and the community. We’d like to thank The Haddington and District Community Council, Irvine’s Homeware and Mikes Bikes for their assistance in getting us started. As this is a new initiative, we need help from the community, they can do this by donating tinned food etc at the drop off points, or by making a donation to the Larder, any help would be gratefully appreciated. This initiative is the third strand to the Food and Clothing projects set up by the Community Council which are still running in Haddington, these projects have helped a large number of individuals in the area. If anyone needs help, please don’t hesitate to contact us, every referral or phone call will be treated in the strictest confidence”.
